Summer Vacation Study Program

Cursus beschrijving

Access to Language Studies offers 2, 3, 4, 5-week programs. Our creative and innovative
curriculum blossoms in a small classroom environment. The communicative interaction
combined with the learning opportunities outside the classroom is extremely effective.
Involvement with extracurricular activities and events during our camp can often be as
meaningful and significant as the content learned within the classroom. We feel that our
planned events, trips, and social gatherings, along with a great classroom curriculum will
deliver the ideal learning experience.

The program focuses on a rich and balanced curriculum that draws connections between
language, culture, and current events therefore supporting all dimensions of language
learning and teaching. Communicative Language Teaching and Task-based learning
activities offer plenty opportunities for language use and the linguistic content of the courses
is rich, diverse, and motivating.

English Levels:

BASIC
Able to understand very simple statements, questions, and face-to-face conversations concerning some familiar situations and many basic needs. Repetition and slower speech are necessary for understanding.

INTERMEDIATE
Able to understand most routine conversations spoken at a normal pace relating to social and occupational situations. Some difficulty understanding common structures and vocabulary remains; occasional repetition is still needed.

HIGH INTERMEDIATE
Able to understand almost all conversations spoken at a normal pace without repetitions, including discussions within the individuals occupation and interests; readily understands phone conversations and broadcasts, but still experiences some difficulty with very fast speech, slang and cultural references.

ADVANCED
Able to understand all discussions, being complex or not, within the listeners experience; able to understand most cultural references as well as manipulations of the language including persuasion, negotiations, conjecture, and humor.
